SOFIA, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian President Rumen Radev and his visiting Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani here on Thursday discussed strengthening bilateral ties.
The two heads of state shared the position that Bulgaria's establishment as a regional center for information technologies in Southeastern Europe and the rapid development of telecommunications and tourism in the country created conditions for attracting Qatari investment in these emerging sectors of the Bulgarian economy, Radev's press office said in a statement.
Radev and Al-Thani also discussed a number of projects of mutual interest in areas such as agriculture and food production, transport infrastructure, energy, science, education and sport, the statement said.
During the meeting, it was stressed that Bulgaria was interested in using Qatari experience in the construction of intermodal ports and attracting investment in the construction and development of infrastructure, the statement said.
Bulgaria's efforts for energy diversification and supply of natural gas from Qatar were also discussed, it said.
Later on Thursday, Al-Thani will meet with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, and a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of energy, youth, culture and sport, education, science and entrepreneurship will be signed.
