TOKYO, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened essentially flat Monday following Wall Street's weak lead late last week that saw a heavy sell-off triggered by trade concerns.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 0.08 point from Friday to 21,567.44.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 0.03 point at 1,719.27.
Oil and coal product and mining issues comprised notable decliners, while insurance and food issues led those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
