RABAT, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan security authorities in the Mediterranean port of Tangier foiled an attempted smuggling of some 1.96 tons of cannabis to Europe, local media reported on Thursday.
The drug was carefully concealed inside a truck heading to Spain, the Moroccan Hespress.com news site said.
The security services said investigations are underway to identify any accomplices, it added.
Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis farming in the past decade, Morocco remains the world's largest cannabis resin harvesting country, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
