YANGON, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar government sent a total of 14,985 migrant workers to foreign countries in April this year, official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Saturday.
Of the total, 12,484 workers were sent to neighboring Thailand while 1,381 to Malaysia, 759 to South Korea, 285 to Japan and the rest 76 to Singapore, Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, respectively.
During the period, the country offered local employment to 15,550 workers in Yangon, Bago, Mandalay, Sagaing and other regions and states.
Aiming to increase the income of each and every worker, the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population has been exerting efforts to offer job opportunities for workers both at home and abroad via new online labor exchange management system.
