TOKYO, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground on Monday morning as the market mood was dampened by a powerful earthquake striking Osaka and its neighboring areas in western Japan.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 189.07 points, or 0.83 percent, from Friday to 22,662.68.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 19.06 points, or 1.07 percent, to 1,769.98.
Oil and coal products, marine transportation and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
