RABAT, June 26 (Xinhua) -- A meeting of the global coalition against the Islamic States (IS) opened in the Moroccan seaside town of Skhirat on Tuesday to discuss threats posed by the IS in Africa.
The meeting, the first of its kind in the context of coalition action, brought together member states of the coalition, as well as African countries and relevant regional and international organizations.
The meeting aims to review the development of the IS threat in Africa and explore possible ways to deal with it.
The meeting also provides a detailed discussion of the latest development in the Middle East and other regions.
Formed in September 2014, the coalition gathers 75 countries and aims to degrade and ultimately defeat the IS.
