NEW YORK, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese American community groups are preparing to stage a grand qipao show in September in Lower Manhattan, New York City, to help promote the Chinese traditional cultural heritage.
More than 1,000 women are expected to show off the beauty of the traditional Chinese women's dress on Sept. 16 at Foley Square, near Manhattan's Chinatown, according to event organizers.
The one-day event of relaxation and entertainment will also feature performances of Lion Dance, Tai Chi as well as tasty Chinese food.
The New York metropolitan area is home to the largest Chinese population outside Asia. The number of Chinese Americans here was estimated at 812,410 in 2015.
