HANOI, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese firm Hoang Anh Gia Lai has hired a helicopter to evacuate its 26 workers stranded in Laos after a dam there collapsed, Vietnam News Agency reported Wednesday.
The 26 rubber-growing workers, including 25 Laotians and one Vietnamese, have been isolated by floods caused by the collapse of the Xepian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam in Attapeu province.
No Vietnamese casualties have been reported so far in the flooding. Five workers of a Vietnamese sawing factory in the affected area also escaped.
According to Lao authorities, many people are still listed as missing following the dam collapse on Monday night, the agency reported.
