DHAKA, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a diplomatic note to New Delhi to send back the country's former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Dhaka from India.

Bangladeshi interim government's foreign adviser Md Touhid Hossain made the announcement here Monday, saying "We've sent a note (verbal diplomatic message) to the Indian government saying that the Bangladesh government wants her (Hasina) back here for judicial process."

Hossain shared the information hours after the country's home affairs adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that his ministry had sought the foreign ministry's support in this regard.

According to local media reports, Hasina fled to India on Aug. 5 after the collapse of her government.

Hasina resigned following nationwide anti-government protests. She immediately left Dhaka in a military helicopter and stayed in India since then.
