TEHRAN, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- If the sanction waivers are not extended by the United States, Iran can reactive nuclear program soon, Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said on Wednesday.

Iran is capable of multiplying the pace of its nuclear activities, including uranium enrichment, Kamalvandi was quoted as saying by Press TV.

"Of course, the speed, the scale and percentage of enrichment as well as other activities would depend on what (the Iranian) authorities decide," he said, adding that "what matters is the capacity to implement major decisions at the AEOI."

The nuclear deal reached between Iran and the six world powers of Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany in July 2015 resulted in the removal of international and western sanctions against Iran in return for the strict monitoring of the country's nuclear program.

However, over the past year, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has imposed new sanctions against a number of Iranian and international entities which have, allegedly, had links with Iran's developing pace of missile program.

The U.S. government has said that expansion of Iran's missile program is against the "spirit" of nuclear deal. Tehran has dismissed the claims.
