WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will lead the U.S. delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics Games which is to be held in PyeongChang, South Korea, next month, said the White House on Wednesday.
U.S. President Donald Trump informed his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-In of the decision during their phone call earlier in the day, according to a White House statement.
On a phone call with Moon in late November, Trump promised to send a high-level U.S. delegation to the Winter Games.
The PyeongChang games, slated from Feb. 9-25, gained extra spotlight as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), after its talks with South Korea over the past two years, agreed to send a delegation to participate in the events.
