ULAN BATOR, Jan.19 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian 3x3 basketball team will participate in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018 in Manila, the Philippines from 8 to 12 June.
Mongolia's 3x3 basketball team earned a ticket to the FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2018 thanks to its position in the FIBA 3x3 Federation World Ranking. This is the first time that the Mongolian national team will participate in this competition. The team won the Asian University 3x3 Basketball Championships, which was held in Malaysia in April.
40 teams from 37 different countries, including defending champions Serbia and Russia, will compete in the fifth edition of the FIBA World Cup. The competition is organized by FIBA and the Basketball Federation of the Philippines.
All games at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup will be played on the same court with 20 men's and 20 women's teams at the event. There are three individual contests. The men's dunk contest (also open to professional dunkers) the women's skills contest and the mixed shoot-out contest.
