RABAT, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria defeated Libya 1-0 on Friday to keep all their chances to advance to the quarter finals of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco.
The local Super Eagles were determined to win this clash against the leaders of Group C in the tournament, which is reserved to locally based African players.
The Nigerians dominated the game but had to wait until the 79th minute to get what they wanted thanks to Sunday Felaye's header after a corner.
Nigeria moved to the top spot with four points from their two matches at the tournament, one more than the overnight leaders Libya.
In the same group, Rwanda take on Equatorial Guinea with all four teams still in contention for a place in the quarter-finals regardless of the result.
In the last round of Group C matches, Rwanda will play Libya while Nigeria face Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday.
The tournament features 16 teams in four groups with the final on Feb. 4.
