World's top shuttlers to feature in Indonesian Masters

JAKARTA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Many of the world's top badminton players will compete in Indonesian Master here this week, the organizing committee confirmed on Monday.

Head of the committee Achmad Budiharto revealed that the status of the tournament had been changed from a Grand Prix Gold to a Superseries.

"The competition must be tough, as this gives an opportunity for the players to prove their capabilities," he told a press conference in the Sultan Hotel.

The tournament, attracting 459 players including the world's top 20, provides a 350,000-US-dollar prize, he said.

The tournament will run from Jan. 23 to 28 in Senayan Sport Stadium in Jakarta.
