BERLIN, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Stuttgart have signed Tayfun Korkut as their new head coach, the struggling Bundesliga club announced in an official statement on Monday.
The 43-year-old coach has been named as Hannes Wolf's successor and has put pen to paper on a deal the summer 2019.
Stuttgart sacked Wolf after the newly promoted "Swabians" lost 2-0 to Schalke to suffer their sixth defeat in the last seven Bundesliga encounters. Hence, Stuttgart slipped to the 14th position with a four-point gap to a direct relegation spot.
New arrival Korkut, who led his first training on Tuesday, knows the Bundesliga business as he already stood at the sidelines of Hannover (2013-2015) and Bayer Leverkusen (2017).
"I want to do my part to make the fans say after the game: that was Stuttgart how we want to see it. I am convinced that we will reach our goals this season," Korkut said.
Stuttgart clash with 13th placed Wolfsburg at the 21st round in Bundesliga on Saturday.
