TOKYO, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Japan on Tuesday to hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso.
Government officials here said Pence is scheduled to hold talks with the Japanese premiere on Wednesday and Aso thereafter.
The talks during Pence's visit through Thursday are likely to span matters of defense and economics, officials here said.
Both Pence and Abe are scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in South Korea on Friday, where they will each meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
