Arabella to make history for Hong Kong, China at Winter Olympics

PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Arabella NG is set to become the first athlete of Hong Kong, China to compete on snow at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games.

The 16-year-old girl will compete in both slalom and giant slalom in PyeongChang.

"It's super exciting. I'm just glad I can add Hong Kong to the list of places competing. I'm just going to do my best and hopefully make Hong Kong proud," said Arabella, who is the sole athlete of Hong Kong, China in PyeongChang.

She is also the sixth to represent Hong Kong, China at the Winter Olympics and the first on snow rather than ice, as the previous five all short track speed skaters.

Hong Kong of China has never won a medal at the Winter Olympics.

The 2018 PyongChang Winter Olympic Games will run from February 9-25.
