GAZA, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The health ministry spokesman in Gaza said Monday that operation rooms in the hospitals in Gaza were completely paralyzed due to the accumulation of dirts and rubbish in the hospitals for the second day in a row.
Ashraf al Qedra said that medical teams can't provide medical services in any hospital or medical center because of the loads of rubbish and trash.
The cleaning services have stopped in all medical facilities in the Gaza Strip on Sunday because the cleaning companies are on a general strike for non payment of salaries.
The health ministry said in a press statement that nearly 200 operations were put off due to the current strike.
Physicians organized a sit in at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza Strip Monday morning, calling for meeting the demands of striking workers.
The ministry's statement said that the strike has obstructed the work of 13 hospitals, 51 primary health care centers and 22 other medical centers run by the ministry.
