MACAO, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The list of "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2018" was unveiled here on Tuesday night, as an Indian cuisine restaurant in Bangkok was awarded Best Restaurant in Asia 2018.
Indian cuisine restaurant Gaggan in Bangkok, operated by chef Gaggan Anand, ranked as the first for the fourth consecutive year. A restaurant from the Macao Special Administrative Region, Jade Dragon, was also included this year.
"Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" list is voted by a 300-member committee, whose members include food writers, chefs, restaurateurs and gourmands from across the region. Members base their decisions upon their dining experiences of the past 18 months to list their favorite restaurants.
Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, director of the Macao Special Administrative Region government Tourism Office, said at the ceremony that Macao is committed to promoting creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable development, and seeking exchange, innovation, cross-field collaborations, while treasuring traditions and training the next generations of culinary talent.
Macao had one restaurant, Robuchon au Dome, in the list of "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" in the first four years, and last year two local restaurants, Jade Dragon and The Tasting Room, were ranked on the regional list.
Launched in 2013, "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" list is the regional version of the famous list of "The World's 50 Best Restaurants" since 2002. Before Macao, "Asia's 50 Best Restaurants" awards presentation ceremony was held in Singapore and Bangkok for three and two years respectively.
