DUBAI, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Shortly before sunset in the Gulf Arab emirates of Dubai, Jungle Cat, ridden by jockey James Doyle, stormed to win the 1,200 meter long turf track of the Al Quoz Sprint here on Saturday.
Cat clocked a winning time of one minute and 9.37 seconds, ahead of U. S. rival Stormy Liberal and Canadian thoroughbred Conquest Tsunami, which are both trained by Peter Miller.
Jockey Doyle said after the race that "sprint is really one of my favorite disciplines, I felt very confident."
The Al Quoz Sprint marked the 5th race of the 23rd edition of the Dubai World Cup, with 30 million U. S. dollars prize money for the world's richest horse race.
