JINAN, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Manuel Pellegrini will not be the club's head coach from May 20 upon mutual and friendly negotiation, said Chinese Super League side Hebei China Fortune on Suanday, after the club beat Chongqing Siwei 2-1 at home in Chinese Super League.
"We feel thankful for Pellegrini's contribution to our club, and wish him good luck in the future," said the CSL club right after the win.
Pellegrini came to CSL in August 2016, after winning the Premier League title with Manchester City in 2014. Reports said he would probably head for another coaching job in Premier League side West Ham after leaving China.
Hebei China Fortune failed to win a match in the last two rounds and went down to lower half of the ranking. Zhang Chengdong's header opened the scoreing for the host in 19th minute only to see Luo Hao of Chongqing score an equalizer with a header five minutes later. An own goal by Ding Jie of Chongqing in second half sealed a 2-1 victory for Hebei.
After 11 matches of the season, Hebei had 15 points from 4 wins, 3 draws and 4 losses to rank 9th.
After the 11th round, CSL will have an interval of more than 50 days for the Russia World Cup, so the timing was precise for another signing.
Elsewhere, Guangzhou R&F was held to a 1-1 tie at home by Henan Jianye. Beijing Guoan beat Changchun Yatai 2-0. Enditem
