KAMPALA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Ivan Nedelko beat David Perez Sanz of Spain to win the 2018 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Uganda Pro Circuit Futures 3 title on Saturday.
Nedelko gave the Spanish player no space in the first set with quick shots to win 6-0 at the Lugogo Tennis Club in the capital Kampala. Sanz returned more determined but could only manage to win three games as Nedelko won 6-3.
To reach the final Nedelko beat United States' Tyler Lu 7-5, 6-2, while Sanz eliminated Zimbabwe's Takanyi Garanganga 6-2, 6-1.
"I am very happy that I won the Futures 1 and now the Futures 3. It was very hurting to suffer defeat in the Futures 2, but I now look forward to battle so that I win the Futures 4 next week," Nedelko said.
"My target is to get enough ranking points which will enable me qualify to enter the 2018 Wimbledon Open in July," he added.
In the doubles Tyler Lu paired with Goran Markovic (Serbia) to beat Jordi Munoz Abreu (Venezuela) and David Perez (Spain) 7-6, 6-4.
