CAPE TOWN, May 22 (Xinhua) -- The following are news items in South Africa's major media outlets on Tuesday:

-- The African National Congress (ANC) wants its national government to lead the process of spatial planning.

The party on Monday briefed the media on the outcomes of its inaugural land summit in Boksburg, near Johannesburg, over the weekend.

-- Not even a police station opposite the Jabulani Mall in Soweto, Johannesburg, could deter the latest brazen cash-in-transit heist, which took place in broad daylight and resulted in a woman being shot.

Ironically, Monday's robbery took place on a day when five suspects arrested in connection with last week's daring cash-in-transit heist appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court.(The Star)

-- Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane said on Monday internal battles and challenges his party is facing will not negatively affect their performance during next year's national and provincial elections.

Responding to setbacks for the party, he said that rather than focusing on these matters, South Africans should give the DA a chance to prove that it will always hold to account all those who are on the wrong side of the law. (South African Broadcasting Corporation) Enditem
