JERUSALEM, June 7 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli aid delegation departed on Thursday to Guatemala to help victims of the Fuego volcano.
The delegation was organized by Israel's National Security Council.
The team includes plastic surgeons, burn experts, lung specialties, and paramedics.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke over the phone with Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales and conveyed his condolences. The two agreed that Israel will send medical assistance.
The death toll from the eruption of the Fuego volcano has risen to 99 on Wednesday, according to Guatemala's National Forensic Sciences Institute.
Fuego volcano exploded around noon on Sunday, affecting more than 1.7 million people. A state of disaster has been declared for the southern departments of Escuintla, Sacatepequez, and Chimaltenango, the three most affected by the disaster.
