MOSCOW, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a boat collision that occurred Monday night on Volga River in Russia has increased to 10, the country's emergency service confirmed Tuesday.
"Ten people were killed as a result of the collision of a catamaran and a barge in Volgograd," Russian Emergency Services Ministry said in a press release.
Earlier reports said at least nine victims were found in the accident.
Five others were saved while one more individual is missing, the emergency service added.
A total of 16 people were on board the catamaran and all of them are Russian citizens, previous local reports quoted emergency service as saying.
A rescue operation is underway. Investigators are also working at the scene, according to local reports.
