TOKYO, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as investor sentiment was dented by the Dow Jones Industrial Average's eight-day losing streak while concerns remain rife over U.S. trade policy.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 224.46 points, or 0.99 percent, from Thursday to 22,468.58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 15.07 points, or 0.86 percent, to 1,735.56.
Bank, transportation equipment and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
