CAIRO, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Arab League (AL) commended on Monday Egypt's financial support to the budget of the Palestinian Authority.
In a statement, AL assistant secretary general for the occupied Palestinian and Arab lands Saeed Abu Ali said the AL highly appreciated Egypt's support to Palestine's budget.
Involved Egyptian bodies have paid the bill of treating Palestinians at Egyptian medical centers which amounted to 25 million Egyptian pounds (about 1.4 million U.S. dollars) , Abu Ali said.
Such Egyptian actions come within a framework of its commitment to the Palestinian cause and keenness of the political leadership to back up Palestine, the AL official said.
The Palestinian government's budget relies on tax revenues and international aid provided by donor countries.
Earlier this month, the Israeli parliament passed a new bill allowing Israeli authorities to deduct millions of dollars from the Palestinian tax revenues it collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority on goods entering through the Israeli controlled ports.
The amount of customs revenues is over 120 million dollars monthly, while the deducted amount would be about 32 million dollars per month.
