TOKYO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday, snapping a three-day winning streak.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 264.68 points, or 1.19 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 21,932.21.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 14.25 points, or 0.83 percent, to finish at 1,701.88.
By the close of play, rubber product, marine transportation, and textile and apparel-linked issues comprised those that declined the most, and falling issues beat advancing ones by 1,563 to 485 on the First Section, while 51 ended the day unchanged.
On the main section on Wednesday, 1,366.64 million shares changed hands, dropping from Tuesday's volume of 1,522.12 million shares.
The turnover on the third trading day of the week came to 2,320.8 billion yen (20.86 billion U.S. dollars).
