WUXI, China, July 26 (Xinhua) -- At the 2018 World Fencing Championships, the Chinese women's sabre team and men's foil team advanced to the top eight on Thursday.
The Chinese men's foil team beat Germany 45-44 in the round of 16, and the women's sabre team beat Spain with the same score.
In the quarterfinal of the men's team epee, China was defeated 23-40 by Russia.
Switzerland won the men's epee title and the United States claimed the women's team foil gold.
The finals of the men's team foil and women's sabre will begin on Friday.
The championships run until July 27 at the Wuxi New Sports Center Gymnasium. Fencers from 109 countries and regions will vie for 12 titles in foil, epee and sabre.
In total, China has sent 27 athletes to compete in the women's and men's individual and team events.
