JERUSALEM, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Six people were slightly wounded as a Austrian Airlines flight to Israel hit serious turbulence on Monday, Israeli authorities said.
The plane landed safely at the Ben-Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, Israel's Airports Authority said in a statement.
Medical teams met the passengers upon landing. A spokesperson with Magen David Adom, Israel's Red Cross, said that four passengers, including a boy, and two stewards were slightly injured and received medical care at the scene. None of them needed hospitalization, said the spokesperson.
The rare incident took place on the flight from Vienna to Tel Aviv.
Local media reported that despite the heavy turbulence, the pilot decided not to turn back the plane because it was close to Israel.
