BERLIN, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Stuttgart were held 1-1 at home after Atletico Madrid's Joaquin Munoz cancelled out Daniel Didavi's opener on Sunday.
The visitors started highly motivated and caught hosts Stuttgart flat-footed when Thomas Lemar's build up work was defused in the last nick of time with just seven minutes played.
Stuttgart failed to establish their rhythm and style of play whereas Atletico came to another chance with 20 minutes played when Thomas Lemar pulled wide from promising position.
As the match progressed, Stuttgart gained a foothold into the pre-season encounter but the Spaniards worked out the better chances.
After the interval, Stuttgart piled on the pressure and were rewarded as Francisco Montero felled Didavi inside the box to cause a foul play penalty. Daniel Didavi stepped up and converted the subsequent penalty to open the scoring on 58 minutes.
Atletico Madrid remained unimpressed and responded only two minutes later through Joaquin Munoz.
Stuttgart had the golden chance to wrap up the victory moments later but Erik Thommy missed a penalty. Hence both sides settled for a 1-1 draw. Enditem
