KUNMING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- A 16-day-long Oktoberfest beer event opened in southwest China's Kunming on Friday for the third consecutive year, featuring German beer, cuisine and performances.
The event lasts until Aug. 25 at the Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.
A total area of 12,600 square meters is marked for the event, including a 4,000-square-meter canopy which can accommodate about 3,000 people at the same time.
Participants can drink different types of authentic German beer, taste classic German food such as pork knuckle and Munich white sausage as well as local cuisine in Yunnan. Bands from the two countries will present performances during the event.
2018 marks the third year for Kunming to hold such a beer culture event after it was first introduced to Yunnan in 2016.
