NEW DELHI, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- India will become the fourth nation in the world to send human into space by 2022, announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, while delivering his speech on the occasion of the country's 72nd Independence Day.
Speaking from the ramparts of historic monument "Red Fort" in Delhi, the prime minister said that by 2022 a few Indians will take India's flag into the space.
"Let me give a good news to the countrymen. In the year 2022, or if possible before, India will unfurl the tricolor in space. By doing so India will become the fourth country in the world to send human into space on its own," said Modi on the occasion.
