JAKARTA, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China's star spiker Zhu Ting said here Sunday that the Chinese team, mainly comprised of Olympic and world champions, will take every match seriously and play the Asiad "from the scratch".

It's the first time for Zhu to participate in the Asian Games, though she has already won the golds along with the Chinese team at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Apart from serving as captain of the Chinese women's national volleyball team, Zhu has also been playing for the Turkish club Vakifbank Istanbul and helped the club win title at various international competitions including the 2017 Club World Championship.

When asked about the different feelings playing the Asiad and global competitions such as the World Cup and the Olympic Games, Zhu said that the main difference lies in the different playing styles of the teams.

"Asian teams are more flexible with their strategies, and their players move a lot during the match, while the European teams rely more on their strength," she said.

During Sunday's opening match, the Chinese team hammered Vietnam in straight sets to achieve their first win at the Asiad.

Coach Lang Ping made a number of replacements, but kept Zhu on the court throughout the match.

Zhu said that she gave her "normal" performance, but as the team is to confront tougher opponents in later matches, she will think of ways to play better.

She believes that her teammates will also do better as the Games go on, as this was only the first match and the team was still adjusting to the new situation.

"We will follow the instructions of our coach and try our best to play every match well," she said.
