JAKARTA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Chinese fencer Fu Yiting won the silver of the women's individual foil at the 2018 Asian Games here on Monday.
Jeon Hee-Sook defeated Fu 8-3 in the final, defended her Asian Games title and awarded South Korea their first fencing gold at the 18th Asiad.
Later on, South Korea got their second gold and one silver after Gu Bong-Il beat his teammate Sang uk-Oh 15-14 in the final of the men's individual foil.
Fencing is a competition of speed and skill using the sword to hit a target in the body of the opponent and made its debut at Asian Games in Tehran in 1974.
The 18th Asiad will stage 465 events out of 40 sports, among which 330 events from 32 sports will feature in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 2018 Asian Games, attracting more than 10,000 athletes, will run through Sept. 2.
