BEIRUT, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Army Commander General Joseph Aoun praised Friday the discipline of the Lebanese Commando Regiment's units and their combat readiness.
"There is close coordination between land and air forces also," he said.
His remarks came during a battle maneuver with live ammunition by the commando regiment held in the Aqoura-Laklouk mountains in the presence of Assistant U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Karem, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Elizabeth Richard and a number of officers.
Aoun also praised the history of the commando regiment and its long journey "which is full of sacrifices," emphasizing that "Lebanon will remain an oasis of security and stability in the region, owing to the achievements of the army."
