YANGON, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar President U Win Myint left Nay Phi Taw for Nepal at the invitation of Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, official sources said Tuesday.

During the visit, U Win Myint will attend the 4th summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) in the Nepali capital of Katmandu on Thursday.

BIMSTEC groups Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan.

Nepal is the current chair of BIMSTEC which was established in 1997.

The third summit of BIMSTEC was held in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw in March 2014.

A declaration issued at the Nay Pyi Taw summit reiterated firm commitment to alleviate poverty in the BIMSTEC region to ensure dignity, improve the quality of life and well-being of the peoples.
