LONDON, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.11 percent, or 83.61 points, to close at 7,432.42 points.
Whitbread, a British multinational hotel, coffee shop and restaurant company, soared 14.33 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Severn Trent and Tesco increased by 0.93 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively.
Sage Group,a British multinational enterprise software company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.78 percent.
