BANGKOK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) - Samui Festival 2018 is scheduled for Thailand's world-renowned tourist island from Sept. 25 to 30, said a senior government official on Tuesday.
Surat Thani Provincial Governor Wichawut Jinto said that the third annual festival in Koh Samui island in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand is primarily designed to make it one of the world's most popular tourist festivals.
The organizers, including provincial government agencies and private sector, have planned to showcase local art, culture and traditional performances during the six-day festival in the tourist island off Surat Thani province, he said.
Samui Festival 2018 will be held at Na Thon pier, Phru Chaweng park, Wharf Samui shopping mall and Lamai beach with the sales of items of OTOP, an acronym for one tambon (community) - one product, boxing bouts, a marathon run, a cycling race and musical shows, among other tourism-related activities.
