BERLIN, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- More than 7,500 historic monuments, including churches, parks and archaeological sites, will open their doors on the Day of the Open Monument in Germany on Sunday.
Coordinator of the event, the German Foundation for Monument Protection, announced that it is the 25th anniversary of the annual Day of the Open Monument, and this cultural event has become the largest in Germany within 25 years.
This year's event will be held under the motto "Discover what connects us". As this year also marks the European Heritage Year, the open monument day in Germany will endeavor to display traces of European influences in German monuments.
Last year, according to the foundation, a total of around 3.5 million visitors visited the monuments and participated in theme tours on the open monument day.
