KIEV, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine aims to boost its role in the Belt and Road Initiative through developing its transport sector, Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said on Monday.
"Ukraine should become a powerful logistics hub on the way of commodity flows between Europe and Asia and take an active part in the implementation of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative," Omelyan was quoted as saying by the ministry's press service.
By 2030, Ukraine plans to invest about 60 billion U.S. dollars in the transport sector development, Omelyan said, adding that part of the investment will go for the construction of new highways and the upgrade of seaports and railway infrastructure.
China and Ukraine signed an action plan on jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road in December 2017.
