Uruguay, Japan to meet in October friendly

MONTEVIDEO, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay will meet Japan as part of FIFA's next double header of international friendlies in October.

The match will be played on October 16 in the Japanese city of Saitama, the Uruguayan Football Association said in a brief statement.

It will come four days after the South American side clash with South Korea in Seoul on October 12.

The Celeste beat Mexico 4-1 in their only match since their 2-0 loss to France in the World Cup quarterfinals in July.

Uruguay are currently fifth in the FIFA world rankings while Japan share 55th place with Slovenia.
