BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Palace Museum put more than 300 pieces of furniture from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) on display Wednesday, marking the opening of a furniture-themed exhibition.
With more areas to be opened in the future, the exhibition will include over 2,000 pieces of furniture crafted in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing dynasties.
Part of the exhibition was located in a furniture storage facility in the southwest sector of the Forbidden City. The Palace Museum started to revamp the facility in 2015 in order to open it to the public for furniture display.
The Palace Museum currently has more than 6,200 pieces of furniture in its collection.
