JAKARTA, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's U-16 football team surprisingly defeated Iran 2-0 in the opening Group C match in the AFC U-16 Cup on Friday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Indonesia striker Abdul Kahfi struck first after just four minutes, with Bagas Kaffa doubling the lead in the second half.
Victory against Iran gives Indonesia the opportunity to win Group C, as the Iranians had been perceived as the group's toughest team, having reached the quarterfinals of last year's U-17 World Cup.
The two other teams in Group C, Vietnam and India, play each other on Friday evening.
