GAZA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least six Palestinians were killed and more than 500 injured on Friday during the weekly clashes with Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.
The six were killed by Israeli soldiers' funfire, including juveniles, said Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Gaza Health Ministry.
Al-Qedra said that 506 were injured and 210 of them were hospitalized. 90 were shot by Israeli soldiers' gunfire, including 35 children, four paramedics and two journalists.
The protest called "the Great March of Return" started on Friday afternoon for the 27th Friday. Thousands arrived in eastern Gaza Strip close to the border with Israel, and clashes broke out between the protesters and the Israeli soldiers on the border.
The protesters waved Palestinian flags, threw stones at the soldiers, burned tires and cut parts of the barbed wire of the fence of the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel. Israeli soldiers on the border fired at them.
Eyewitnesses and local media reported that Palestinian protesters released dozens of arson balloons from eastern Gaza Strip into Israel.
Meanwhile, the Israeli media reported that the arson balloons released from Gaza caused large fires in various areas in southern Israel, close to the border with the Gaza Strip.
Hamas movement, which rules the Gaza Strip since 2007, called on Thursday in an official press statement for a general "Nafir" which means a declaration of war.
Israeli army artillery fired on Friday evening one shell at an Islamic Hamas movement military lookout post in eastern Gaza city close to the border with Israel, with no injuries reported, according to paramedics and eyewitnesses.
Since March 30, the Israeli army killed 192 Palestinians, including 34 children and three women, with 20,000 people injured, half of thom were shot by Israeli soldiers' gunfire, Al-Qedra said in a statement.
