Roadside bomb kills 1 police officer, wounds another in N. Afghanistan

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- At least one police officer lost life and another sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck a police vehicle in Kham Ab district of the northern Jawzjan province on Sunday, a provincial police spokesman said.

"A mine planted by enemies on a road in Deo Qala village of Kham Ab district struck a police van today, killing one police personnel and injuring another," Hekmatullah Aminzada told Xinhua.

Without providing more details, the official said that investigation is underway.

Taliban militants who are in control of parts of the restive Kham Ab district haven't commented.
