SAO PAULO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras extended their lead at the top of Brazil's Serie A standings on Saturday with a 2-0 away victory over fellow title contenders Sao Paolo.

Gustavo Gomez gave the visitors the lead with a 34th-minute header after Dudu's corner and Deyverson made it 2-0 three minutes later by nodding in after a pin-point Mayke cross.

The result at Morumbi stadium handed Palmeiras a three-point advantage over second-placed Internacional at the top of the 20-team standings with 10 matches remaining in the season. Sao Paulo were fourth, four points behind the leaders.

Palmeiras have been unbeaten in the league since Brazil's 2002 World Cup-winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari took charge in late July. During that time the nine-time Serie A champions have won 14 and lost just two of their 21 matches in all competitions.

In other matches on Saturday, Chapecoense won 1-0 at home to Atletico Mineiro and Atletico Paranaense romped to a 4-0 home victory over America Mineiro.
