TOKYO, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks fell Tuesday morning tracking losses on Europe and Asian bourses a day earlier while a glitch in the system here added to investor consternation.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 218.81 points, or 0.92 percent, from Friday to 23,564.91.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 22.46 points, or 1.25 percent, to 1,770.19.
Mining, transportation equipment and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
