SANAA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- A Saudi Arabian-led coalition fighting Iranian-allied Shiite Houthi rebels killed five beekeepers in an airstrike on a bee yard in Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Monday, a provincial hospital official said.

Meanwhile, pro-government media almasdaronline.com reported that the five were killed while they were in their family's bee yard in Dakwanah area east of Salef port.

On Friday, a coalition airstrike hit a house in Hodeidah, killing one and injuring three others, according to pro-government online news site al-Hodeidah.net and the Houthi-controlled Saba news agency.

The Hodeidah port is a main entry point of about 70 percent of Yemen's food, medicines, aid and fuel.

The war has escalated in the port city following the collapse of peacemaking efforts last month by the UN in Geneva after Houthi rebels refused to attend.

Saudi Arabia is leading an Arab military coalition that intervened in Yemen in 2015 to support the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi after the Houthi rebels forced him into exile. Enditem
