LONDON, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Wednesday could be the hottest October day for seven years in Britain, with temperatures in London set to hit 24 degrees Celsius, British forecasters said Monday.
The forecasters said the heatwaves could have a last hurrah, but for only one day. It means that parts of the country will be hotter than Portugal, and some southern areas are expected to be 10 degrees Celsius warmer than usual.
Through Tuesday and Wednesday a lot more sunshine will develop and 24 degrees Celsius could be seen, which is "well above what we would normally expect for this time of year," said the British Met Office.
The forecasters also predicted that stormy weather and rain would sweep the country by the end of the week. In London, although temperatures will still be about 19 degrees Celsius, there will be heavy rain and clouds from Thursday night. Enditem
